Witness this 4 min. performance and Fanfare for the Common Man by Aaron Copeland (1941). Note the concentration of the players on the conductor. Note the timing of the timpani drums and lack of any regular rhythmic guidance as in a drumming beat of a country or rock band. How can they all play exactly on cue? I mean-- EXACTLY on cue. Nobody starts and stops a bit off cue although I suppose you could use a computer to determine if anyone was off a bit beyond human hearing. Are good orchestras using something more than a sense of timing-- perhaps a 6th extra sense? I've attempted to play on cue with others. It's very very tough. There are problems I don't even want to talk about in that regard. So this is a mystery to me.
Rick and Dorothy partnered personally and professionally from 1995 to 2025. Their unique duet featured one of them on 88-key piano while the other managed the bass, percussion, lead solo instruments on a portable keyboard ensemble. Vocals and singalongs were often part of the show. Dorothy transitioned to the quantum-spiritual-realm QSR in January 2025 and she lives on electronically here and via quantum synchronicity winks to Rick from the beyond Email: rick_potvin@yahoo.com
