We came on the earlier side for dinner, so the place wasn't quite busy.
Needless to say, we had the server's undivided attention the entire
time. We sat right by the piano so it
was very neat to hear the live pianist play while we ate. We ordered
about 9 dishes, and the memorable ones that I really liked included the:
garlic and onion crab, fried crab, tofu clay pot and the steamed fish.
I ate at Golden Buddha a few weeks ago. We ate at the restaurant after a
day at the zoo with our 4 year old and had a blast. The piano bar played tunes for my daughter and the staff was more than accommodating.
We stepped in and asked for a seat for two. We were seated immediately. The place was decorated nicely and a lady playing the pianomade for great ambiance.
Service is pleasant and friendly. Cost is reasonable. Ambiance is nice. There is a baby grand piano, but only played at night for dinner. It is comparable to California standards. Good ROA (ratio of authenticity)
A gem for Chinese food when you're in Phoenix, man. It's authentic and even offers entertainment each and every evening: live piano! Yes, there's an American guy who plays from a book of songs each night. Feel free to tip him if you'd like; he plays well!
Oh but this place is classy; it has a piano, and a 24 hour player!
Be entertained by classic, quiet standards being played live on a piano while you dine?
When we left, the same manager was at the pianosinging in Chinese
The piano broke while we tried it on our first visit. It seems the sostenuto went out- that is the left hand sustain on the bottom end controlled by the middle peddle. I only had the soft pedal depressed and the right pedal, which is sustain. I recall this same problem (and our repair of it, waiting for the piano tuner several times) during 2005 and 2006 when we played it for owner Tony Kao. We visited a second time the following week and it wasn't repaired yet. The current manager had not yet called the tuner. I had offered to call him. I might end up paying for the repair as we make our offer to play it again.
the hostess was very and offered me a free cold bottled soda while I waited for the to-go food to be prepared. We ordered wonton soup, cumin lamb, yanzi chicken and a veggie. All were excellent. Especially loved the cumin lamb. The portions were big. The service was superb. There was live piano music. Lovely place. Will go there again.

Stopped by for a late lunch for the first time today since I was famished from a long work day. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised.
The place was huge, clean and nicely furnished with a grand piano for entertainment. Albeit it was empty since it was after 2pm on a weekday, the hostess was very and offered me a free cold bottled soda while I waited for the to-go food to be prepared. The Mongolian beef with fried rice was tasty and if I lived closer, I would definitely have be back to try their varied different dishes.
I don't understand what the organist is doing upon the goals shot during the latest Stanley Cup game between Penguins and Sarks. It sounds like just one chord. I'll have to check it out further because I know some stadium organists peronally and know their equipment. What I'm hearing is really watered down from what should be. Check it out.
When you are a musician as I am, you hear language differently. You hear the composition of the cadance, the rhythm and the pronunciation. Here Trudeau exposes himself as a mere reader who doesn't understand English and thus English reasoning when he says "un preeeee cedented". Other than that, a very good command of English pronunciation. I just can't understand how he could have made that error of making the short E and long E. I completely missed that back when this was live.
I'm working out a Glockenspiel version of Lollipop for a local ice cream truck. I'll put several renditions on the following playlist -- along with ice cream trucks as examples of how ice cream truck songs are supposed to sound-- then add mine below this on the Blogger video host because Youtube can't accept any more videos from me using my current browser and I can't update my browser without updating my computer & I don't want to do that presently.
Playlist begins with Chordettes and moves through several versions including piano
I may as well take the time to create a piano lesson out of this song... here are the searches.... and below that some lyrics and chords and more. Once the ice cream truck hits the streets, maybe I'll videotape it and post it here after buying my own ice cream with my rendition of Lollipop playing in the background.
Someone assembled a 119 youtube playlist of ice cream trucks playing their songs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zTKbG1eDGKM&list=PLWCTXfCZKJYCr8DKg3Yxj6hATAnb8croB&index=3 The Ice Cream Truck Song - YouTube What mechanism is involved in playing ice cream truck bellular sounds-- and why was that sound chosen? ... good question. I added a video to the playlist above to answer that.
Here's a first attempt to create Lollipop as an ice cream truck song. I didn't use sheet music but did use the chords as seen above. I think I have a lot of inaccuracies and might have to order the sheet music. I forgot to edit out my first few false starts. I replicated it 5X with copy and paste. I do not believe the end user is going to be able to play this off his smart phone through a loudspeaker as ice cream trucks use. The proper equipment is sol by a particular company as seen in the video playlist above. In any case, playing the following will give us basic idea of what we're considering. I believe I used some tones that are too low.
I like giving a lot of attention to the soundtracks in movies and various programs because it's where music makes money and it's interesting. Here's an episode of Outer Limits.
Dorothy and I have been inviting more and more audience participation in our concerts at retirement centers lately. Sometimes, we've gone overboard but more often than not, in the past at least, there has been too little. The Duelling Piano business does nothing other than audience participation which is too much. We do a mix of show & audience involvement on little bits of songs-- since the old fashioned singalong doesn't go over well these days. In the following song, we invite the audience to sing the "blue blue blue suede shoes" line at the end of the song.
Turn down your amp before playing this video-- or reduce the volume on the bar on the video by more than half-- it's too loud. This is a test video only.
Be sure to check under ATONAL music in the index below anytime you wish to hear music that makes no sense. This type of music is great for those with no sense of harmony, melody or rhythm. They can be expressive and sound like they're doing something right away.
I'm comparing bass levels in the video-- mainly. I'm using an external mic-- where I 've usually just used the mic on the camera. I can't do binaural recording yet but plan to
These latest videos are not on Youtube proper-- as such-- but uploaded on the Blogger site here. Because of that, I cannot link the videos in a playlist as I could on Youtube. It appears now that Youtube won't allow me to upload with my old Mac OSX 10.4 and Safari 4.1-- but to update my browser I need a new operating system. To do THAT, I need a new computer because I'm on a Mac G4 and the most I can run on is 10.4 (Tiger). So I'm done with Youtube uploads until I get a new computer it seems. In the meantime, I can continue to upload one video at a time here. I've tried other video hosts like VIMEO but they insist on using HD and don't have playlist linking anyway. There is another service that allows playlists but they charge $10/mo and I don't want to do that right now. So here's the best video I can make and upload at this time (using an old Canon video camera).
