Alan Parsons

What is this? Aoki?

The following concert is very strange to me.  It almost seems as though it could be a fake concert-- that its only a green screen crowd. I can't understand how what we're hearing moves these people younger than me-- it's too techno, robotic. There is no band. What is this a  DJ?  People crowd into a stadium to hear a DJ? Whaaaat? Huh? Look at my last post where BTO perform takin care of business. Compare it to "Aoki" jumping up and down like an idiot in front video screens. This is wrong-- in so many ways I can't count.  No real artists are there. Aoki does Guitar Center ads-- that's where I found him. Guitar Center sells DJ gear. Is this a "sponsored concert"? It could be! It could be a concert where the kids are "paid" somehow to be enthusiastic for something that can't possibly evoke this kind of reaction.

Takin Care of Business - BTO - Randy Bachman - I - bVII - IV

School of Rock has outlets all over the country now-- as a rock music school . Imagine that. Who would have thought. But their selections stink in my view. How about Takin Care of Business?  I teach at Guitar Center -- and I teach ROCK CHORD CHANGES-- that a kid can grasp and understand in all keys. This one is I - bVII - IV.

Happy Birthday at Orchard

Tomorrowland movie them is annoying and overdone at the same time.

Amazingly, this apparent summer box office hit, Tomorrowland, has a terrible music composition to go with it. If this is the piano music of tomorrow, we're all in big trouble. It's not beautiful or inspiring at all like that composition in the last post that accompanied the megalithic sites video. Hear for yourself-- and see if you can sit through 2 minutes of this annoyance-- this travesty-- this repeatable instantly recognizable "alarm".

Inspiring vocal / percussion soundtrack enhances megalithic exploration.

I might experiment with this super-learning brain machine.

Education Automation Vacation
Scientific experiments indicate that effects of the Neurophone range from super learning, long term memory speed learning, relaxation, pain control and enhanced psychic abilities. The Neurophone's ability to transfer large amounts of information into long term memory may, alone, make the current model of education obsolete. We could advance beyond the problem of information overload and actually emphasize values, goals, strategy and a profound interdisciplinary approach to world problems. Positive solutions in an ever more complex world may themselves depend on the solution offered by the responsible use of the Neurophone.

Quote from an article
I've been using Gamma binaurals for the past three days now, I must say they are amazing! Speed and creativity of thought is ramped up, perceptual acuity (ie detail and colour) is increased and I'm rather more eloquent and witty in conversation. It also destroys any remnants of fatigue due to sub-optimal sleep. I have a few more questions, if you will oblige

I’m intrigued by that too because I know in the early days you couldn’t transfer them to Mp3 and still get the effect.

Awesome soundtrack for this Antarctic video

Piano lessons lead to synthesizer and orchestra composing that allows you to compose soundtracks for videos... like this-- check it out.

Golden Buddha dropped out from under us 3 years ago.

It's been close to 3 years that Golden Buddha suddenly shut its doors. We were highly successful with 600 customers through-put a day during Dim Sum and 200-300 per night when we played the piano there. It's astounding that such a customer base plus rental of rooms for weddings and other functions could crash like this. Here's a new article I found I've never seen before.

Begin the Beguine by The Rick & Dorothy Piano & Keyboard Hour

Rick Potvin & Paul Shaeffer are both from Thunder Bay Ontario!

The 1980's are finally over! The Dave Letterman show is over-- so is Paul's gig. The whole show-- the whole point-- of the show-- the whole psychology of the show-- is all 1980's. I came of age-- in my 20's in the 1980's which was a whole new coming of age that transcended my coming of age in the 1970's. And now... for Dave, Paul and me... the 1980's... are done. The 1980's lasted to 2015. Now we can move on-- toward the year 2000. I'm not at the year 2000 yet. I understand, from current events, how it "might come to pass" but really-- I'm still in 1993 I think. I'm sure I can get caught up but I'm pretty comfortable back here in 1993-- let's listen to Paul's Tonight Show them in 1988-- on Jay Leno of all places-- for a complete rendition of this now familiar tune-- much better than Jay's own tune by the way... and probably up there with Johnny Carson's theme. Here we go-- note the big role for keys in Paul's orchestra... and the Hammond B3-- a VERY retro piece of gear. That gear predates smart phones by a lifetime. If I had to choose a smart phone or a B3... I'd go for the latter still--

Rick plays bongo drums at the piano.

Activity Directors hire The Rick & Dorothy Piano & Keyboard Hour for 1 hour +++ for entertainment for retired residences.

The Rick & Dorothy Piano-Keyboard Hour features songs, both instrumental and vocals, played on piano and a keyboard at the same time for a full sound.  Repertoire songs are familiar to residents of retirement communities throughout "the valley" (Greater Phoenix, AZ). The songs are changed every month or so to keep it fresh and interesting, although the most popular tunes are repeated, but never exactly in the same way twice. Special "sets" are created for special holidays like St. Patrick's Day, Father's Day, Mother's Day, Christmas and more.

This live performance show enthralls retired residents because the songs are familiar and played by TWO players, each on their own instrument-- a traditional 88 key piano-- and a keyboard ensemble that completes the full musical sound with bass and percussion, as well as solo instruments like saxaphone, vibraphone and more. There is both a visual impact of watching two musicians play music in real time as well as the impact of the full sounds of the instruments working off one another. Add in vocals on some of the tunes and this hour of entertainment is memorable.

Book your hour with The Rick & Dorothy Piano & Keyboard Hour now-- especially if it's a special holiday you're considering. Email Rick at rick_potvin@yahoo.com or call (602) 371-0094.

55 Hz, about A0 on the piano (lowest note), activates "kundalini", they say.

You can now try this at home. Listen to the following under headphones. There are thousands of these frequency recordings on youtube but I don't know if any of them are any good. I've ordered recordings that do work to some extent from Centerpointe.com and Kelly Howell. I've used certain meditative CD's for several years now to what I think is probably a useful effect. A few of the recordings I've made from the freebies online work to put me into a power nap when I need one in the middle of the day. The evidence says there's something to it-- and I can pretty much verify that something is going on. I can't get the lucid dream recordings to work, however. And none of them seems to have really had a super dramatic effect on life overall. I'll keep exploring.

5 hour energy gets me pumped for performances & lessons

I've been using 5 Hour Energy for about 5 years. I couldn't believe it actually worked when I first tried it.  It's been making me happier, more positive and talkative in many different situations. When I perform in front of an audience, I need all my organ-stops "open" and "switched on" so I never hesitate to use 5 hour energy an hour before I'm going to play. When I teach, I need to be sharp and attentive. I sure wish brainwave meditation tapes in the gamma range or a neurophone by Patrick Flanagan was available but short of that-- right now-- realistically-- in 2015, it's 5 hour energy

Fibonacci "music" created by NeuroPhone by Patrick Flanagan

Use Headphones for BEST EFFECT! -- I'm only testing this "music" at this time but the promise it that it increases I.Q. I'll be the judge of that, I guess. How would you know if your IQ is increased after listening to this anyway? They used to say the same thing about Mozart's music and called it The Mozart Effect. Frankly, the following sample sounds like typewriters or a piece of running machinery. I don't understand how they can possibly promote it as an IQ booster. I'll report on this more when I know more. The following video is a PLAYLIST, as well, so you can scroll ahead to the next sampler video if you lose interest in the current one.

"ULTRASONIC MEDITATION"-- what a concept!

The above video is the first in a playlist created by me, Rick Potvin (who did NOT create the videos-- just assembled them in a coherent way)... specifically to get the heart of the issue of what is going on with this thing called the neurophone and with "ultrasonic meditation". The field of study seems confused right now and even the inventor Flanagan doesn't explain things in a way I, myself, consider coherent and revealing in a pleasant way.

I myself-- Rick Potvin-- understand sound and sound combinations through piano music and I fully understand what 40,000 hz "music" would be-- in a purely technical sense. I understand what 3 hz would be doing to the brain along with binaurals and isochronics.  Through my reading of Raymond Rife, I somewhat understand resonant frequencies across a spectrum affecting biology. We're moving into "ultrasonic MUSIC" in this sense AFFECTING our biology in a fundamental way possibly transdimensional. I think this is the music of the 21st century because "regular music" in all idioms, I believe, is moribund. It's all going nowhere. It's not revolutioning anything or raising anyone's conciousness-- certainly not fast enough. Moving into ULTRASONIC MUSIC will be a possible solution.

I'll ad to this playlist in coming weeks.

Neurophone represents 21st Century "Music"

The Neurophone is a powerful brain-entrainment device. If we play alpha or theta signals directly through the Neurophone, we can entrain any brain state we like. In a future article we will tell how the Neurophone has been used as a subliminal learning device and also as a behavior modification system

I still don't get why they bash their guitars at the end.

I think I'll do a smooth bosa nova version of My Generation and change the lyrics a bit because these guys just seem like they're "gone", you know. I was watching Idol tonight and noted someone tried to do this song so looked up the original. Poor Tommy Smothers of Smothers Brothers having to host this. He didn't get it either. Costumes and bass playing was good. Song has potential. But I don't get the performance. And the attitudes of Daltry and the rest seem smug, sanctimonious, disrespectful and just downright crude-- which has zero resonance decades later. Lowlifes are always lowlifes, it turns out-- even decades later. Amazing.

Roger Dalry with puckered lower lip smirking-- with a really bad attitude.

The drummer says something mean to Tommy Smothers, the HOST of the show he is on!

Stage hand makes a funny noise when Tommy Smothers says he "digs" The Who--You can see the shocked look of Tommy as the sound occurs and the GUFFAW'ed smirk of Roger Daltry...
