I'm not sure why I'm attracted to Ben Fold's piano styles (yet). Update: I think something new is being done with piano here-- and this includes synths, keyboards, entire groups of acoustic guitars and realtime improvisation involving whole orchestras. The guy is a kind of a combination of Elton John and Rick Wakeman-- but packaged in a non-flashy way that's messy, real, chaotic and yet ends up with good results. His irreverent use of the piano while standing is reminiscent of Jerry Lee Lewis too but with more interesting complex songs consistent with a current edge. Interesting!
